The deep knowledge in synthetic organic chemistry and rich experiences in process research and development and in drug discovery and development possessed by JZMed, Inc., as well as the outstanding, customer-focused service demonstrated by the company in the past, have made the company highly respectful and trustful among all clients it has worked with. Following are only two of the many examples to illustrate its outstanding customer-focused service.
Case Study I:
Customer:
A biotech company located in North Carolina.
Contract term:
6 FTEs for medicinal chemistry research of small molecule drugs targeting diseases in COPD area.
Research scope:
(1) Rational design, to improve potency, of novel drugable compounds based on the structural modifications of the FDA approved drug molecule by employing SAR (structure-activity-relationship study) technique;
(2) Improvements and optimizations of pharmacological properties (PK and PD) for preclinical development candidates;
(3) Scale-up syntheses of selected preclinical development candidates (on multi-gram scales);
(4) Development of scaleable synthetic processes for selected clinical development candidates (on kilogram scales);
Roles played in the project:
Project management, project liaison among all parties involved.
Results:
(1) Provided ideas and inputs for synthesis of any selected target compounds;
(2) Proposed a series of new target compounds;
(3) The potency improved from initially 600-700 nM to 3-5 nM;
(4) Developed chemical production processes for a number of preclinical and clinical development candidates;
(5) A series of patents filed (some of them already granted);
(6) A series of publications published (both research articles and national meeting presentations);
(7) On-going clinical trials: one in phase II, two in phase I.
Case Study II:
Customer:
A pharmaceutical company located in California.
Contract term:
GLP synthesis on a kilogram scale for NCSS study for a selected clinical development candidate.
Contract provider:
A medium-sized pharmaceutical service company located in Shanghai, China.
Services JZMed, Inc. provided:
After on-site facility inspections of a few candidate providers of Chinese service companies located in Shanghai, Beijing, and Hangzhou (Zhejiang province), respectively, JZMed, Inc. decided to choose the one located in Shanghai, based on the match of its capability and capacity with the requirements of that particular project. JZMed, Inc. then helped the US client negotiate a service contract with the Chinese vendor. During the subsequent three months of the project, JZMed, Inc. acted on behalf of its US client to manage the project and to monitor the project progress, which included: conducting teleconferences, separately with the Chinese vendor and the US client, on a regular basis for chemistry/progress discussion; conveying any concerns/suggestions/problems from one side to the other; writing reports for the US client, including progress reports and final report after the completion of the project, etc.
Results:
The project went very smoothly throughout the entire process. The Chinese service provider successfully fulfilled all requirements from the US client, and delivered within the scheduled timeframe the desired amount of material. The delivered material met all required specifications, and the US client was very pleased with the service and quality. The client admitted that it saved them at least 60% of their original budget (if it were contracted out with a US-based chemistry service provider).
